DIBDEN PURLIEU OUTING

Here is some news of another sketching group and an account of the visit to Dibden with photographs -  all by Di. It sounds as if it was a good morning despite the cold with a lovely view to sketch in warmth and comfort!

Hi Everyone
I went along to the New Year meeting of the Southampton Urban Sketchers Group in St. Michael’s Church.  There were over 20 people there. I was interested to find that the format was very similar to our Adventurous Artists group: an hour and a quarter sketching in small sketchbooks and an hour in the Tudor House Cafe afterwards. There were people of all ages there and those  to whom I spoke were most enthusiastic.

Four of us were at Dibden Golf Centre on Friday. We were made very welcome in the clubhouse and had a warm room and a fabulous view to sketch . Here are photos of the view, Harry & Olive Yearsley (Olive did not sketch, she accompanied Harry), Helen Bartlett (formerly Davies) and Muriel Hiscott. Harry sketched in pencil, Helen in watercolour, Muriel in Graphtint pencils (not shown) and I sketched in ink,  Inktense and lead pencils.

We next meet on Friday 10th February at 10.15 a.m. at the little Chapel Cafe / Charity Shop at 12 Hammonds Green, Totton, SO40 3HG - off Water Lane. Parking is on the street in Hammonds  Green. I am sure that we will find interesting things to sketch inside. The cafe is run by the Youth and Families Matter charitable organisation. http://www.youthandfamiliesmatter.org.uk/the-chapel/ The cafe has a reputation for its friendly welcome and affordable menu. Check out the great  reviews on Tripadvisor:  https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g2526366-d7607630-r249467115-The_Chapel-Totton_Hampshire_England.html Usual opening hours are 9.30 - 4.00

I look forward to seeing you and your sketchbook there!
